Marie Stumbo Moore, age 90, of Willard, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard, Ohio. She was born April 30, 1923 in Floyd County, KY, the eleventh child to the late James L. and Sallie Tuttle. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church in Attica and formerly a member of Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church in Plymouth.
She is survived by six sons, Hascell (Linda) Stumbo of Norwalk, Dennis (Wilda) Stumbo of Shiloh, Ferris (Judy) Stumbo of St. Petersburg, FL, Corbin (Martha) Stumbo of Eastern, KY, Ricky (Ruth) Stumbo of New Haven, and Jeffrey (Marianne) Stumbo of Celeryville; three daughters, Elverda (David) Charles of Grove City, OH, Gladys Stumbo of Willard and Janice and Dave (Slone) Mullins of Tipp City, OH; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, General “Buck” Stumbo; one son, Kenneth Stumbo; one son-in-law, Wendell Slone; one grandson, Rodney Stumbo; one granddaughter, Shona Moore; eight brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m and on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the New Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church in Attica, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the church at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Mike Slone and Elder Dwayne Slone officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the New Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church. Ms. Marie has gone home now, forever young!!!! I wish I would of came out more to see you. But when I was there I did. I love you Marie and I always will. I really miss our morning routine and our talks. Of all the girls who took care of you, you always remembered me as you called me your kin!!! It was hard for me to take care of you because you reminded so very much of my grandmother Slone. But just being there taking care of you was fulled with so much love n kindness.
