Mary Joan (Wise) Phillips, age 73, resident of Willard, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 21, 2009 at her home. She was born November 9, 1935 in Peru Township to the late Rosina (Swint) Wise and Frank Wise. She worked at Pioneer Rubber Company (sewing plant) and later was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. Sebastian Church and a current member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church. She was a long time member of the Altar Rosary Society, and led the Rosary for many years at the church. She spent many hours canning and gardening. Mary loved being with Joe, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Edward Phillips, whom she married on October 12, 1957; six children, Steve (Lisa) Phillips of Willard, Ed Phillips of Willard, Barb Shade of Willard, Maryann (Dave) Brown of Attica, Tom (Jane) Phillips of North Fairfield and Lisa (Kyle) Hohman of Midland, Michigan; five siblings, Richard (Olive) Wise, Norma Baum, Eugene (Louann) Wise, Urban (Betty) Wise and Rita (Vincent) Foos; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ambrose Wise and Raymond Wise; one sister, Anna (Wise) Knoll; grandchild, Steven Phillips, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. The funeral mass will be held Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10AM at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church in Marywood, Ohio with Fr. Paul Fahrbach officiating; assisted by Deacon Vincent Foos. The rosary will be recited at church before the mass. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery in Bismark, Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff at Willard Mercy Hospital, Dr. Sizemore, Dr. Stanberry, Dr. Kahn, Sister Diane Hay, Sister Rita Mary Wasserman, Fr. Paul Fahrbach, Fr. Stanley Szybka, Stein Hospice, and dear friends for their prayers, loving care and support during this difficult time.
