Merle L. Frye, age 90, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Willows at Willard Nursing Home. He was born on July 11, 1926 to the late Thomas C. and Grace I. (Paden) Frye and had been a Willard resident all of his life. Merle was a 1944 graduate of Willard High School. He was in the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. Merle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Willard, as well as, the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Willard Golf Club, Willard Athletic Boosters, and had served on the Willard City Council and Board of Education.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Dermer) Frye whom he married on December 9, 1950; four sons and daughters-in-laws, David and Sally Frye of Willard, Tom and Kathy Frye of Andalusia, AL, John and Kathy Frye of Cincinnati, OH, and Jim and Cindy Frye of Galion, OH; 14 grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Mahoney, Clayton (Denise) Frye, Charles (Lenette) Frye, Elizabeth (Brent) Spillan, Joseph (Lynn) Frye, Edward Frye, Michael Frye, Laura Feeback, Guy (Jessica) Frye, Sarah (Mark) Allen, Nicholas Haller, Eric (Ashley) Frye, Anna Frye, Eleanor Frye; 13 great grandchildren, Madalyn and Maryn Mahoney, Natalie and Isaac Frye, Charles Jr. and Cristian Frye, Isabelle and Everly Spillan, Lydia, James, and Titus Frye, Abigail and Lilian Frye.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rayman Earl Frye.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio with calling hours the hour before from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. There will be a private graveside service at the Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Lane, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. I was sorry to learn of Merle’s passing. I will always fondly remember the times the Frye and King families would gather next door to our house for picnics and card playing.You were all such good adult role models for us neighborhood kids. You will be in my prayers.
