Mildred Mullins Estridge, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at The Willows at Willard in Willard, Ohio. Having moved to Ohio from Kentucky in 1952, she resided at 222 Spring Court, Willard until April 2016.
Mildred was born in Floyd County on January 14, 1922 to Benton and Leora Mullins. She graduated from Garrett High School in 1940, where she was a regular starter for the girls’ basketball team. Mildred married Harold “Zeke” Estridge on December 23, 1941. They were married 65 years before he preceded her in death in 2005. Mildred is survived by her three sons, Dale of Plymouth, Robert (Joan) of Willard, and Charles (Karen) of Willard. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and eight siblings, Madge Martin, Joan Brewer, Agnes Aldridge, Grace Mullins, Ralph Mullins, Samuel Mullins, William Mullins, and Robert Mullins.
Mildred was a homemaker all her life. She devotedly cared for her family and friends by giving her time, talents, and fine cooking. She was an accomplished baker; famous among her family for her homemade chocolate pies. She enjoyed many types of needlework. She made many quilts and knitted blankets for her family, who affectionately called her “Mimi”. She was a member of the Greenwich Church of Christ, Greenwich, OH, where she regularly attended services and special events until 2014.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of The Willows at Willard for their loving care and to her church family for their support and many visits.
The family will receive friends at the Secor Funeral Home, Willard, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Ricky Branham officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio following the service.
