Nancy Jane Knaus, age 76, a life long resident of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at The Willows in Willard, Ohio. She was born in Shelby, Ohio on March 6, 1937 to Russel and Virginia (Hazelwood) Barbour. Nancy is a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School and the Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She has been employed with Dr. C.O. Butner’s office in Shiloh, Ohio as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
She is survived by her husband, Kent Knaus of Plymouth and The Villages, Florida; two daughters, Gail Shatkus of Chester, Montana; and Ann Knaus of Plymouth; one son, Andrew Knaus of Willard; her mother, Virginia Ruth (Hazelwood) Barbour of Shelby; one sister, Sally Vanasdale of Columbus; and one brother David Barbour of Chicago, Illinois.
She is preceded in death by her father, Russel Barbour.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Ohio, with Rev. John Wanamaker officiating. Secor Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, the Ohio State University Department of Movement Disorders, or the Plymouth First Evangelical Lutheran Church. So sorry we missed the memorial. Our daughter had a baby Wed. morning and we were with her. By the time I got home from staying with the grandkids while she was in the hospital, the memorial was already over. We have fond memories of Nancy especially her calm demeanor when Dick fell on the barn roof.

Deepest regret to read of Nancy’s passing. She was such a fine lady, always concerned for others, and had an upbeat personality. I met Nancy in the 70s – knew here before her long battle with Parkinson’s. She’s a peace now and with the God she served so long and so well. Prayers to her family.

Nancy’s long fight against Parkinson disease is over. May she rest in peace. I send my sincere sympathy to all her family. I will miss her as a friend since 1955 and classmate in the MGH Class of 1958.
