William Scott Smith, age 50, resident of Willard, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He was born on June 9, 1963 in Willard, Ohio to the late Harold and Carolyn (Clark) Smith and had been a Willard resident most of his life. He is a graduate of Willard High School and served in the US Marine Corps during the Gulf War. He was employed as a mechanic with Packing Corporation of America in Ashland. Bill was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth and enjoyed carpentry and mechanical work.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Mockler) Smith whom he married on October 28, 1983; one son, Rance (Katie) Smith of Plymouth; five daughters, Molly (Justin) Albright; Jacy, Libby, Charlotte and Ivy Smith all of Willard; his grandson, William Smith; three brothers, Clark (Donna) Smith of New London; Brian (Denise) Smith of North Fairfield; and Christopher (Krissy) Smith of North Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth with Father Jim Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. My dad and Bill’s dad were best friends. I got to know Bill better after he went into the OVH. He had alot of interests and sure loved his kids and talked highly of his brothers and parents. It was fun talking about the things our fathers did together when they were younger. He shared stories I had never heard before.
