Ottis B. Laferty, age 80, of Willard, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Willard Health Care Center. He was born Feb. 28, 1929 in Hippo Kentucky to the late Lonnie & Poppie (Shepherd) Laferty. He retired from the Pioneer Balloon Company in Willard, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed his woodworking and his farming. He was an U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife Jenette (Pine) Laferty; 5 children, Patsy (Butch) Thompson, Mike (Donna) Laferty, Greg Laferty and Karen Felver and Randolph Scott Laferty, all of Willard and Sam (Deborah) Laferty of Akron; 9 grandchildren, Chris Brown, Sherri Brown, Lisa Ladd, Sarah Laferty, Amy Laferty, Nick Laferty, Phillip Laferty, Ryan Laferty and Emily Laferty; 3 great grandchildren, Josh Ladd, Jacob Ladd and Madison Mercedes Laferty; 11 brothers and sisters, Hancer and Curtis Laferty of New Haven, Ocie Collins of Castalia, Arthur Laferty of Crestline, Joshua Laferty of Tiro, Marie Yontz of Bayview, Jossie Furr of KY, Effie Voltz, Mitchell Laferty of Glasgow, KY, Linda Smith of Norwalk and Barbara Wagner of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Tincy Grimes and Sarah Alice Haines.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, where the funeral service will be Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. James Gaston officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.secorfuneralhomes.com
