Dr. Pierre E. Haver, O.D., age 85, resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital. He was born on March 7, 1922 in Hicksville, Ohio to the late Oliver and Letha (Wray) Haver and has been a Plymouth resident since 1953. Dr. Haver was a graduate of Fostoria High School, attended Bowling Green State University and graduated a Doctor of Optometry from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry. He had served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific as a medical corpman. Dr. Haver practiced in Plymouth for 35 years. He was a member of the American Optometrical Association and the Ohio Optometrical Association. He enjoyed the company of his family and researching geneology.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Younker) Haver, whom he married January 19, 1946; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Dr. David Haver of Lancaster, PA; Peter and Jan Haver of Mansfield; John Haver of Plymouth; Jay and Valerie Haver of Fredericksburg, OH; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and George Hildebrandt of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; one brother, Laurence Haver of Fostoria.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ilene Haver.
A private funeral service will be held at later date and no calling hours will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Viking Academic Boosters Club, Attn: Dixie Hart, 400 Trux St., Plymouth, OH 44865. The contributions will be used to fortify a scholarship to assist a Plymouth High School graduate that attends a medical or health college.
