Richard A. “Dick” “Snelly” Schnellinger, Jr., age 63 of Willard, Ohio died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 01, 2010.
He was born October 4, 1946 in Norwalk to Richard and Rosella (Kramer) Schnellinger. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Paul High School, Norwalk.
Dick was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Willard; the Knights of Columbus; the Moose Lodge and the NRA. He was an active carver at the Woodcarvers Den in Bellevue. In 2008, he retired from RR Donnelley & Sons after almost 42 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcarving, woodworking, spending time at Lake Erie, John Deere memorabilia, coffee at Cranberry Hills, Clady Deercamp and spending time with his five grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Esther (Daniel) whom he married October 11, 1969; his daughters: Sherry Schnellinger and Rich Phillips of New Washington, Wendy and Kevin Garrett of Willard and Toni and Brian Feisthamel of Cuyahoga Falls; his grandsons: Nicholas and Nathaniel Garrett of Willard, Dylan, Logan and Lincoln Feisthamel of Cuyahoga Falls. Also surviving are his mother, Rosella Schnellinger of Norwalk; brothers and sister-in-laws: Carl and Carole Schnellinger of Norwalk, Frank and Barb Schnellinger of Norwalk; sister and brother-in-law: Pamala Schnellinger and John Wiedemann of Moreland Hills; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gerald Daniel, Marvin and Helen Daniel and Nancy Daniel, all of Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Schnellinger, Sr.; his brother, Leo J. Schnellinger; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Emma Daniel and his brother-in-law, Virgil Daniel.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 5, 2010, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple, Willard, Ohio 44890. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, Willard, with Fr. Stanley Szybka, Fr. Melvin Verhoff and Fr. James Peiffer officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church/School, Willard or St. Joseph Catholic School, Cuyahoga Falls.
