Richard C. “Dick” Pittenger
June 15, 1927 – November 18, 2008
Grand Junction, Colorado
Richard C. “Dick” Pittenger was born in Shiloh, Ohio to Waldo W. & Alice (Fern) Pittenger, June 15, 1927. He attended Shiloh High School and was in the Navy from 1944-47, serving in Europe during WWII aboard the USS Perry. He was a Corporate Executive Pilot for Total Petroleum for 35 years.
Favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a member of the NRA, Colorado Colt Collectors Association, American Legion, and the AOPA.
Dick had one brother, Robert Waldo and one sister, Barbara Jean, both having preceded him in death. He married Betty Ernst in 1945 and they divorced. In 1984, he married Brenda Place who preceded him in death. On May 22, 1999, Dick married Sandi Glaze. Survivors include a son, Richard C. (Cheryl); step-daughter, Senta Costello (Chad); step-son, Brian Place; step-daughter, Kim Place; 5 grandchildren, Colton, Kendalle, Samantha, Ryan, and Kyle; sister-in-law, DruElla Chamberlain; several nieces, nephews; and many, many friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 9:30 AM with Reverend John Wanamaker officiating. Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio assisted the family with local arrangements.
