Richard G. Marquart, age 94, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Mercy Willard Hospital. He was born on February 3, 1921 in Cranberry Township to the late Lester and Mary (Eckstein) Marquart. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs, Ohio. Richard enjoyed farming, gardening, feeding cattle and tending to his fruit trees.
Richard is survived by his four children, Janet Lasten of Powell, Ohio, Roger (Juleen) Marquart of New Washington, Ohio, Gene (Pam) Marquart and Charlene (Bucky) Glorioso, both of Willard, Ohio; six grandchildren, Emily (Don) Strube, Michele (Bill) Northcutt, Matt (Theresa) Seasly, Lisa (Alan) Pasqualini, Angie Marquart and Sheila Marquart; three step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and two step great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Fortney) Marquart in 2011; 2 sisters, Arlene Friedley and Dolly Richards; and son-in-law, Ron Lasten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs, Ohio with Pastor Hans Scherner officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
