Robert E. “Gene” Cordrey, age 75, resident of Shiloh passed away, Monday morning, September 6, 2004 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following short illness. He was born April 14, 1929 in Mansfield to the late Bert and Mary (Mattox) Cordrey and had been a Shiloh resident the majority of his life. Mr. Cordrey had farmed and retired from the Ohio Brass in Mansfield. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth and a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret (Kirian) Cordrey; one sister, Bernice Campbell of Shiloh; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Gail, Kermit and Carl Cordrey; two sisters, Frances Bowers and Cecile Johnson.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Shenandoah Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland Co. Joint Veterans Council. Memorial expressions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
