Ronald L. Aichholz, age 93, resident of New Washington, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2007 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus, OH. He was born on February 17, 1914 in rural Attica, Ohio to the late Jacob and Emma (Marquart) Aichholz and had been a resident of New Washington all of his life. He was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II. He married Violet W. Carlson on February 14, 1945 in Seattle, Washinton.
He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, American Legion Post 405, 40 & 8 Voiture 150; AM VETS of Bucyrus, County Council On Aging and the Golden Gems. He owned Ron’s Electric in New Washington, Ohio, retiring in January 2004. Ron has been Adjutant of Post 405 for over 50 years, has been District Adjutant and District Children and Youth Chairmen for serveral years.
He is survived his wife, Violet Aichholz; two nephews, Duane (Linda) Aichholz of New Washington and Paul (Trisha) Aichholz of Belividere, IL; and two nieces, Sharon (Bill) Houseworth of Shelby and Shirley (Aichholz) Athy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Weldon E. and wife Susannah Aichholz; a nephew, Harry Aichholz; a god-daughter, Alane Aichholz; and a sister, Miriam Aichholz.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Sunday, February 25, 2007 from 6-8 PM & on Monday, February 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, where the American Legion Post 405 will hold a memorial service at 8:00 PM on Monday. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation; St. John’s Lutheran Church; or the charity of the donor’s choice.
