Shirley M. Paden, age 69, resident of Shelby, Ohio passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born on October 5, 1939 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Flem and Zora (Whitaker) Collins. She had lived in Galion and Willard and then retiring to Shelby. She was a graduate of Tiro High School and was a dedicated worker for 14 years at MTD in Shelby retiring in 2007. As an affectionate sister, mother, grandmother, and follower of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, Shirley deeply loved her family, grandchildren, and many friends. She never met a stranger and was greatly loved by all who knew her. Shirley’s life reminds those she leaves behind that “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto Thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” –Isaiah 41:13.
She is survived by a son, Larry Merwine of Mansfield; three daughters, Peggy (Tim) Klinetop of Bellville; Trisene (Aaron) Barker of Shelby; and Carol Merwine (Bob Lewis) of Galion; seven grandchildren, Everette (Kristin) Hunt; Ellen (Brian) Auten; Eva Hunt; Tim and Adam Cline; Andrew and Josh Merwine; six step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; eight sisters; Edna Barnett; Peggy (Wilbur) Wright; Rita (Steve) Gullett; Teresa (Ron) Rust; Sue (Marty) Picklesimer; Betty Cole; Josi Tackett; Ollie Frazier.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Willard Paden; a grandson, Isaiah Merwine; five brothers, Rayburn, Roy, Troy, Otis and Delmer Collins; two sisters, Myrtle Hall and Eunice Collins.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Earl Sexton officiating. I know it is hard to believe right now that your Mom is in a better place. She was a great woman and she always treated me with respect. To Shirley’s family, I am sorry to hear about her passing. I only just got to know her in the past few months. She was a truly sweet and funny lady. I had many late nite laughs with her.I feel privlaged to have had the chance to know her.Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
