Sinda Lou (Alsept) Myers, affectionately known as “Maw,” passed away at the age of 74 on the evening of July 5, 2026, peacefully at her home in Bucyrus, Ohio, surrounded by her family while listening to her favorite music, including Tina Turner.
Born on January 3, 1952, in Willard, Ohio, Sinda was the daughter of Arbie Alsept and Wilda May (VanNaular) Alsept.
In an era of true hardship, Sinda learned early on what it meant to fight for survival. As a fiercely independent woman, she raised her family mostly on her own, using her bare hands and a relentless work ethic. She never complained or backed down from a challenge. With her deep love for God and her faith in him to guide her through every storm, she found joy in the journey, no matter how difficult the path.
She embraced her rich heritage of Native American and Gypsy blood; whenever the quiet call to move came, she packed up and followed it with a beautiful free-spirit making homes in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida throughout her lifetime.
Her hands weren’t just for survival; they were for creation. She found peace in nature and enjoyed having a green thumb, planting everything from flowers to tomatoes. Her kindred connection to wolves and the untamed beauty of the outdoors would often lead her to long walks for hours, sometimes ending up at a local Goodwill. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and colorful wardrobe.
She leaves behind a big, loving family as she is survived by her little sister, Mary Jane Alsept; and Sinda’s 5 children, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren: Ronnie Jewell, his 3 children, Joshua with his two sons, Jackson and Kaius, Devin and Derek; Paul Jewell, his 5 children, Jozlyn, Alexander, Landan, ElliAnna and Whyatt; Loretta (Jewell) Pinyerd, her 2 sons, Parker and Houston; Rachel (Myers) Riedlinger, her three children, Trever, Brooklynn and Cheyenne; and Meril Alsept, and his 4 sons, Donovan, Kayden, Izaiha and Jayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Corbett, Arthur, Ricky, Jimmy and Joseph Alsept.
Following her wishes, Sinda will be cremated and laid to rest with her beloved parents. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, and those details will be shared once they are finalized.
