Theresa Cecilia (Schafer) Karl passed away on June 29, 2021, while surrounded by her children at the Karl Family Farm in Tiro, Ohio at the age of 95. She was married to Vincent Aloysius Karl for 55 years prior to his death in 2003. Together, Theresa and Vincent raised six children on the farm that has served as the Karl homestead for six generations. Theresa dedicated her life to family and partnered with Vinny to run the family farm. She will forever be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In the final years of her life, she was compassionately cared for by her daughter, Debra.

Theresa was a woman of faith who demonstrated her love for the Lord by loving and serving her family and community. She was a long-time member of Mother of Sorrows/St. Bernard Catholic Church in North Auburn, Ohio where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.

Theresa also had a lifelong love of fashion. She enjoyed putting outfits and accessories together, and always kept up with the latest fashion trends. Theresa looked forward to her trips to the beauty shop and believed in always looking her best. She was also known for her culinary skills and spent countless hours canning produce from her garden. Her recipes have been shared in cookbooks throughout the area and will be enjoyed by family and friends for generations to come. She cooked everything from scratch and made many mouthwatering dishes. Baking pies and bread were her specialties.

As the matriarch of the Karl family, Theresa's legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who cherish their time spent with her and Vincent over many years on the farm.

Theresa is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Karl; her grandson, Christopher Caldwell; her parents, Frank and Cecilia Schafer; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Dave) Kimmel, Dennis (Joyce) Karl, Yvonne (Tim) Kaple, Debra (Alan) Reed, Donna (Greg) McDowell, and Brenda (Dave) Caldwell; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Schafer and a sister-in-law, Theresa Schafer.

Family and friends may visit at Mother of Sorrows Church in North Auburn, Ohio on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00am. Fr. Eric Culler will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. All are welcome to attend a luncheon following the burial. Memorials may be made to the Mother of Sorrows Maintenance Fund. Donna and Family; If the obituary is the story of one's life, your mother had a beautiful life and obviously very loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The Karl Family has my deepest sympathy in this tremendous loss. My husband and I knew many of the Shafer Family and they all lived to this standard. What a great family! A prayerful remembrance.
