Tressie Mae (Amyx) Oney, age 88, resident of Shiloh, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Triumph Hospital of Mansfield. She was born on March 19, 1921 in Lykins, Kentucky to the late Tony and Edna (Patton) Amyx. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bluegrass festivals, gospel music, camping, working in her flower gardens and collecting bird figurines. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Winford Oney whom she married on June 3, 1939; four sons, Eugene (Karen) Oney of Lodi; Lowell (Kathie) Oney of Columbus; Oral Oney (Reno Hall) of Shelby; Wayne (JoAnn) Oney of Mansfield; four daughters, Brenda (Dave) Poffenbaugh of Shiloh; Almeda Francis of Shiloh; Charlotte (Larry) Kamann of Plymouth; Sharon Detterman (Dave Harvey) of Mansfield; nineteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Guthrie of Adario; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Oval Gray Amyx; a sister, Iris Fay Amyx; and an infant daughter, Iris Fay Oney.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Reverend Earl Tackett officiating.
