Virginia A. Shealy, age 74, of 304 East Street, New Washington, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at the MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, after an eight year battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 12, 1930 in New Washington where she lived all of her life, to the late Wilbur B. Suver and Hannah (Probst) Suver Stutzman. She married Kenneth C. Shealy on June 3, 1951 who survives. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Shealy of New Washington and Jay and Katherine Shealy of Raleigh, N.C. There is one granddaughter, Kathryn Shealy of Greenville, N.C. and one step grandson, Justin Blessing of Chapel Hill, N.C. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Paul Suver of New Washington and Russell Suver of Galion. She is preceeded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Suver.
She was a 1948 graduate of New Washington High School and worked as a telephone operator in Norwalk and Bucyrus. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, where she served as church organist for 18 years, and formerly played in the hand bell choir. She enjoyed music and was a talented pianist and organist.
There will be a Memorial Service, Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
