Rev. Orbin Montgomery, age 76, resident of New State Road, Delphi, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2007 in the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on June 29, 1930 in Mogoffin County, Kentucky to the late Price and Lona (Clemons) Montgomery and had been a Willard resident the majority of his life. He was a member of the Faith Buliders Church of Willard. He retired after 36 years of service from the Nickel Plate/N&W/Norfolk and Southern Railway where he worked on the Bridge and Building Crew of Norwalk. He enjoyed his religion and fellowship, family and grandchildren, gardening, fishing and outdoor labor.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roberta (Dyer) Montgomery; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry ‘Leo’ and Patricia Montgomery of Greenwich; Gary and Kim Montgomery of Greenwich; a daughter, Denise Claytor of Delphi; six grandchildren, Isaac and Ieisha Claytor, Allison, Benjamin, Gracie and LeeAnn Montgomery; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Arizona Montgomery of Willard; J.C. and Brenda Montgomery of Jackson, KY; Kenneth Ray and Connie Montgomery of Jackson, KY; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Louise Montgomery; Irene and William Honaker of Willard; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Minuard and Dixie Fay Montgomery.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Reverends Fred Rowe and Meryle Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio.
