Alice A. Hay, age 92, resident of Willard, Ohio died peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the St. Francis Home in Tiffin. She was born on August 29, 1917 in Miller City, Ohio to the late Christopher and Mary (Kerner) Morman and had been a Havana/Willard resident the majority of her life. She had been a faith member of the former St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bismark for 66 years before transfering her membership to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She served the parish in many capacities and experienced this community to be a strong source for her faith-filled life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She is survived by her four children, Sr. Janet Hay of Tiffin; Tom (Lucy) Hay of Willard; Ken (Donna) Hay of Loudon, TN; and Ruth (Dennis) Meade of Huron; six grandchildren, Tracey Hay of Willard; Troy Hay; Teri Haskins of Elyria; Chris Hay of Colorado Springs, CO; Jackie Lowery of Columbus; and Aubrey Meade of New York, NY; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Jason Meade, Erica Coon and Brian Meade all of the Akron area; six step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Elmlinger of Willard; and Loretta Leis of Tiffin.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hay in 1996; three brothers; one sister.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. A prayer service will at 1:30P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Stanley S. Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery in Bismark. Memorial contributions can be made to Sisters of St. Francis, St. Sebastian Community Center or to donor’s choice. Aunt Alice was a gem, always a lady with a smile and positive attitude. I am so glad that we all got to spend time together in Tiffin. We know that she and Uncle Joe have eternal happiness together.
