Arthur W. Eckstein, age 93, of Washington St., New Washington, passed away Monday, July 4, 2005 at Heartland of Bucyrus Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 6, 1912 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late William & Clara (Steiger) Eckstein. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Post 405, both in New Washington. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran in the 80th Division of Engineers in Germany and France. His hobbies where woodworking, gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Lola (Kalb) Eckstein, whom he married Sept. 3, 1943; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Ken) Rothhaar of Chatfield, Nancy (Paul) Kaufman of Mansfield and Carol (Tom) Garverick of Dublin; grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle) Rothhaar, Matt (Sarah) Rothhaar, Amanda (Scott) Keith, Phil (Kelly) Kaufman, Joy Kaufman & fiance’ Matt Cook, Ben Kaufman and Anna Garverick; great grandchildren, Megan Rothhaar, Wyatt Rothhaar and Ellayna Rothhaar; 3 sisters, Dorothy Shankof Plymouth, Anna Winans of Antelope, CA and Mary (Don) Heiby of Bucyrus.
He is preceeded in death by his father, William Eckstein, mother, Clara (Steiger) Eckstein, step-mother, Ida Eckstein; 2 brothers, Clarence and Lester Eckstein.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, where the Funeral Service will be Friday at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Home Care Matters or to the donor’s choice.
