Benjamin Cody Shepherd, age 27, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He was born May 10, 1986 in Willard, Ohio. He was attending Ohio Business College in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a very talented guitar player and song writer and loved spending time with his daughter most of all.
He is survived by his daughter, Lillianna Raelyn Shepherd; significant other and mother of Lilly, Kendra Reed; mother, Belinda (Sweigart) Shepherd of Attica; father, Marvin John Shepherd of Norwalk; brother, Zachary Shepherd of Cape Coral, FL; 3 sisters, Rhiana (Sweigart) and James Cottingham of Attica, Jessica Shepherd of Attica and Madison Shepherd of Attica; maternal grandmother, Virginia (Burkhart) Sweigart of Bloomville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph Sweigart and his paternal grandparents, Claude and Effie Shepherd.
Visitation will be Friday, April18, 2014 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, where the funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Greg Griffith officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

In times of sorrow where you think ( God help me) ,We have no answers as to why our children have to go. I will pray for your family,I lost my son at 15 so i can tell you that god is our comfort. So very sorry for your loss and know we have support groups for just talking, Trying to understand this part of life.

Ben, my dude. We had been such great friends for sometime now. I can’t believe you are really gone. In a life where I have lost so many loved ones and friends, I am still in shock. You have always been like a cousin to me, and a day will not pass now that I will not think back on the good times we had spent together. Ben was the sweetest young man I ever met. He made working at the restaurant fun and entertaining. I saw him several months ago at OBC and he was proud to show me pictures of his beautiful daughter. Ben will be forever in my thoughts.

Ben was near and dear to my heart. He was a student in some of my classes at Ohio Business College and I saw so much potential in him. He worked so hard and tried to please everyone.
