Lina Gladys Vair McClintock, 96, went to meet her Lord at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, Ohio, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, following a short period of failing health.
Born August 25, 1917, in Charlestown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles and Hattie (Bradfield) Vair. She lived in the Portage County area, especially Charlestown and Garrettsville, all her life until 2002 when she moved to Plymouth, Ohio.
Mrs. McClintock graduated from Charlestown High School in 1935. She married Frank McClintock of Freedom, Ohio, in 1939, and they were married for 62 years, until Mr. McClintock died in 2002. Mrs. McClintock and her husband worked for the Portage County Ecumenical Food Shelf for nine years as volunteers delivering food to needy families. As an adult, Mrs. McClintock worked for four years at Master Cleaners Dry Cleaners in Garrettsville, and at Hiram College for seven years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garrettsville for over fifty years, and served as president of the United Methodist Women for four years. When she moved to Plymouth she attended the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth.
Mrs. McClintock and her husband especially enjoyed collecting antiques. Mrs. McClintock loved to read, do crossword puzzles, sew, knit, and she had a green thumb. She dearly loved her family and loved when they would visit.
Mrs. McClintock is preceded in death by two brothers, George and Glenn, and two sisters, Elsie and Ruby. Surviving are sons Barry and friend Nancy McGrath of Rutherford, N.J., Charles (Carolyn) of Bainbridge, and Paul (Beth) of Plymouth, and a daughter, Kathleen McClintock (Armin Gutzmer) of Texas, eight grandchildren and eight great – grandchildren, and daughters-in law, Candace McClintock of New York and Elizabeth McClintock of New Jersey.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. A private family burial will be held at Freedom West Cemetery.
