Brett A. Bishop, age 45, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 21, 1971 in Galion Ohio to Ronald and Betty (Hiler) Bishop and was a lifelong New Washington resident. Brett was a 1989 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and co-owner of Buckeye Painting. Brett enjoyed all types of sports, coaching many teams and following his sons’ in their sporting events over the years. He was also a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington.
He is survived by his wife, April L. (Smith) Bishop whom he married on September 4, 1993; two sons, Carter and Grant Bishop; his parents, Ron and Betty Bishop of New Washington; a sister, Deb (Andy) Thurner of Moscow, Ohio; a brother, Mark (Kim) Bishop of New Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the St. Bernard Catholic School Gymnasium, in New Washington, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Tyler Niese Memorial Scholarship Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
