Cleta J. Smith, age 87, resident of Mansfield, Ohio and former Plymouth resident passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at her home. She was born on November 18, 1919 in Bloomington, Ohio to the late Joseph and Clara (Williams) Lasch and had been a Plymouth resident most of her life. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Plymouth High School and a graduate of Ashland College. She earned her teaching degree and taught second grade in the Plymouth-Shiloh School District for many years. She is a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth and was a charter member of the Shelby Cloverleaf Square Dance Club.
She is survived by her husband, Max W. Smith, Sr. who she married February 7, 1942; two sons and daughters-in-law, Max W. Jr. and Susan Smith of Mansfield; Thomas and Sharon Smith of Riverview, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Timothy Redden of Plymouth; Ellen and Scottie Smith of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her twin brother, Clyde Lasch; and a brother, Joseph Lasch.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Reverends Leonard Shatkus and Bonnie Peltomaa officiating.
