Donald E. Strausbaugh, age 65, resident of rural New Washington, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home. He was born January 30, 1952 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Robert and Esther (Clouse) Strausbaugh and had been a lifelong resident of New Washington. Donald was a 1970 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and Pioneer Vocational Center, had been employed with the C.E. White Company in New Washington and had served on the Board of Directors for North Central Electric. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington and a member of the Moose Lodge in Bucyrus. His passion was farming and gardening and he enjoyed planting and growing flowers.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Kevin Eckstein of Pataskala, Ohio; a son, Scott Strausbaugh of New Washington; three grandchildren, Carson, Chloe, and Austin; twelve siblings, Patricia Aten, Ken (Martha) Strausbaugh, Kathy (Bob) Harris, Barb (Larry) Batdorf, Joseph (Marge) Strausbaugh, Regina Whitaker, James (Barb) Strausbaugh, Joan (Joe) Lourenco, Alice Lanctot, Sharon (Bob) Walker, Nancy (Tom) Bacchus, and Brenda (Doug) Mason; special friend, Terri Niedermier; loyal four legged companions, Charlie and Ruger and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Linda S. (Cramer) Strausbaugh in 2012; and a brother, Bobby Strausbaugh.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington with Father George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church to help fund for new restroom facilities.
