Donald R. Vanderpool, age 87, of 34 Brooks Court, Plymouth, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2015 at the MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1928 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Newton and Ethel (Lawson) Vanderpool. He had lived in Plymouth most of his life. Don worked at the former Fate-Root-Heath Company until he was seriously injured in a truck accident which left him partially disabled. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He work on the Plymouth rescue squad and rode with the Huron County Sheriff Department.
He is survived by a one son, Denny Vanderpool (Jayne); three daughters, Brenda Bailey (Donnie), Kimberly Vanderpool, and Cheryl Atkins (Danny); eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Roy, Ray and Larry; and three sisters, Ellaree, Sue and Joanne.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Jay, Billy and Jimmy.
Don was a member of the Old Stone Coal Church of the Old Regular Baptist in Garett, Floyd County, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church in Plymouth from 2:00 to 6:00 PM with church services at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 10:00 AM with the Elders of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. We are sorry that Bro.Don had to leave us. God had a place reserved for him in Heaven. Don is no longer sick, He is rejoicing with the Lord. We will miss our friend but, we know he is in a better place. May God bless his family.
