Dr. Donald G. Ward, age 61, resident of Ashland passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 25, 2004 in Samaritan Regional Hospital in Ashland. He was born May 28, 1942 in Willard to the late D.O. and Laura F. (House) Ward. A graduate of Willard High School, he furthered his education at the Palmer College of Chiropractic and attended the Kingsway School of Theology. Dr. Ward began working with his brother-in-law, Dr. A.G. Tenpenny in Attica, Ohio. Dr. Ward opened his own office in Ashland in 1968 and a second office in Willard in 1990. He was an avid fan of all the Willard Flashes Teams and a mentor and friend to the players and families. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading books and studying theology and scripture.
He is survived by his wife, Ellawayne (Wrede) Ward whom he wed Oct. 4, 1964; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Chris Ward of Ashland; Brett and Jackie Ward of Wooster; Mark Ward of Ashland; Scott and Amber Ward of Ashland; three grandchildren; one brother, Jack Ward of Florida; one sister, Marilyn Tenpenny of Sandusky; nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Faith A. Ward.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend James Brothers officiating. Burial will following in Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Memorial expressions can be made in care of the family.
