Edward Heckman, age 71, of Crestwood Dr., Willard, passed away Sat., Dec. 10, 2005 at his home following a 6 month illness. He was born June 12, 1934 in Willard, Ohio. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Randolph aircraft carrier. He retired from Brunswick Defense now Guardian Manufacturing after 34 years of service. He enjoyed his grandchildren, the company of his good buddy Simon ( pet schnauzer), fishing at Lake Erie, woodworking and wintering in Florida. He was a member of the Willard Conservation League and was a lifetime member of the New Haven United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Slessman) Heckman; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry & Judy Heckman of Willard, Thomas & Kelly Heckman of Bluffton, OH and Steven & Rebecca Heckman of Hamilton, Ohio; 3 grandsons, Bryan, Shane and John; 3 granddaughters, Lori (Aaron) Giesige, Erica and Elizabeth; sister, Joanne & Jim Fidler of New Haven; niece, Kathy Fidler of Plymouth; nephew, Michael Fidler of Willard.
He is preceeded in death by father, Ronald Heckman; mother and step-father, Marjorie & Cecil Smith.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. The Funeral Service will be Wed. at 11:00 A.M. at the New Haven United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lynda K. Masters officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the New Haven United Methodist Church or Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.
