Ezra Hicks, age 78, resident of Willard, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Willard Health Care Center. He was born on May 11, 1929 in Wheelersburg, Ohio to the late George and Amanda ( Bailey ) Hicks and had been a resident of Willard since 1949. He retired from the Pioneer Balloon Company after 44 years of service. He was a realtor at Century 21 Danhoff & Donnamiller Realty for 32 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Willard, where he served on various committees. He also was a member of the Willard Conservation League, a member of the National Association of Realtors, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Trilby Hicks, whom he wed on March 29, 1946; a daughter, Donna Hicks of Sterling Heights, MI; a son, David (Nancy) Hicks of Willard; two grandchildren, Matt (Mary Ana) Hicks of Lima and Dawn (Wayne) Fryback of West Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Edgbert (Alice) Hicks of Alger, and Roger (Ella) Hicks of Ashtabula; and a sister, Bertha Hicks of Willard; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Chester, James and Clarence Hicks; and two sisters, Reba Phillips and Rhoda Ousley.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Willard on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ken Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice of Sandusky or to the First United Methodist Church of Willard.
