Fred A. Bauer, age 78, resident of Shiloh, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 in Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. He was born on December 29, 1927 in Montpelier, Ohio to the late Joseph and Sylvia (Weber) Bauer and had been a Shiloh resident since 1960. Mr. Bauer was graduate of Montpelier High School and started with the Wabash Railroad as a bridge carpenter. He later went to work with the B&O Railroad and retired an engineer from CSX on January 1, 1990 after 44 years of service. He attended the Plymouth First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Shiloh Historical Society and the National Railroad Campers Association. His passion was spending time at his cabin in Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Muse) Bauer who he married May 24, 1968; three sons, Mike (Sandy) Bauer of Shiloh; Joe (Rossana) Bauer of Shiloh; George (Dianna) Schibley of Seattle, Washington; two daughters, Terri (Austin) Moorhouse of Moore Haven, FL; Melanie (Derek) Shoup of Shiloh; ten grandchildren; five great grandchilden; one brother, Walter Bauer of Mesa, AZ; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Harliejean (Barnes) Bauer; and a sister, Alice Reeves Traxler.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral servives will be held at the the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Saturday with Reverend Linda Heinaman officiating.
