Frederick C. Hosang, age 97, resident of New Washington, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday morning, January 9, 2007.
He was born on November 30, 1909 in Reedtown to the late Alphonse and Anna (Miller) Hosang, the oldest of seven children. On November 30, 1935, he married Mildred Faeth, who died April 3, 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Christine (Dr. Robert) Young of New Washington, Doris Wise of Tiffin and Kathleen Pifher of Tiro; a son, Fred (Marge) Hosang of Lakeville, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother, Eugene Hosang of Bellevue, and two sisters, Elizabeth Hosang of Norwalk and Bernadine Geiger of Norwalk; many nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Kelly.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Arthur Hosang; sisters Lucille Willoughby and Pauline Rospert;sons-in-law, Louis Wise and Carl Pifher; 2 grandchildren, Brenda and Brian Young; and grandson-in-law, Dr. Harry Bimonte.
Fred was employed as a carpenter, as was his father. His hobbies included woodworking, family gatherings, reading, traveling and visiting friends. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Carpenters Union Local #976 and the Crawford County Humane Society.
Secor Funeral Home, New Washington, is in charge of funeral arrangements. Calling hours are Thursday, January 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Dendinger officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhome.com
