Velma Elizabeth Bordner, age 99, resident of New Washington, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Heartland of Bucyrus Nursing Home. She was born on May 11, 1907 in Chatfield, Ohio to the late George and Matilda (Leonhart) Harrer and had been a resident of New Washington all of her life. She was a graduate of Chatfield High School. Mrs. Bordner worked for 40 years with her husband and son at the Herald Printing in New Washington. She retired in 1980 from the Herald Printing. She also was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington.
She is survived by her son, Robert and Carolyn Bordner of Powell, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sharon Gervais of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Carolyn Delaney of Hillard, Ohio, and Laura Shook of Powell, Ohio; two step grandchildren, Ben Richards of Cleves, Ohio and Debbie Fink of Lewis Center, Ohio; and twelve great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Graydon Bordner in 1964 and whom she wed in 1935; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington on Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the church following the burial. The family request no flowers.
