Frederick W. Schroeder, age 75, resident of Willard, Ohio and former Mansfield resident passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Willard Healthcare Center. He was born on July 7, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Lowell and Thelma (Smith) Schroeder and had been a Mansfield resident for many years and moved back to Willard in 2007. Mr. Schroeder was employed as an autobody repairman and painter and had work with several body shops. He had also worked at Serenity Hall at the Richland Hospital for over 10 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Canberra during peacetime. He enjoyed racing stock cars in his early years and later making and selling wood crafts with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Donna R. (Bumb) Schroeder whom he married on December 30, 1961; three children, Tracey Thull (fiance’ Joseph Young) of Marion, OH; Toni (Brent) Hemminger of Tiffin, OH; and Fritz (Heidi) Schroeder of Mansfield, OH; eight grandchildren, Adam (Christine) Oster, John Thull, III, Andrea (Chris) Magers, Brandon Thull, Lauren (Perry) Ensley, Jillian (Jerrett) Thull, Austin Schroeder, Autumn Schroeder; five great grandchildren, Lucian, Chloe, Eden, Peyton and Myla; two brothers, Richard Schroeder of Sylvania, OH; and Tom Schroeder of Walbridge, OH; and one sister, Doris Wertz of Toledo, OH.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Annie May Benarth.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 2:00 to 4:00 PM where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM with Pastor David Detwiler officiating.
