Hazel Messer Hicks, age 64, resident of Willard passed away Thursday, June 24, 2004 at her home following a short illness. Born July 23, 1939 in Knott County, Kentucky to the late Beecher and Eliza Jane (Robinson) Messer she had been a Paintsville, Kentucky resident the majority of her life moving to Willard 14 years ago. Mrs. Hicks was a home maker and a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Hicks whom she wed June 28, 1958; five daughters, Linda Wright of Ashland, KY; Brenda Castle of Paintsville, KY; Barbara Castle of Paintsville, KY; Patricia Van Hoose of Willard; Angela Castle of Paintsville, KY; three sons, Glenn Hicks, Jr. of Dawson Springs, KY; Danny Hicks of Willard; Michael Hicks of Willard; 16 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Music of Tennessee; Bonnie Tackett of Paintsville, KY; Goldie Prokop of Willard; one brother, John D. Messer of Paintsville, KY; numerous nieces nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Messer; one brother, Hillard Bud Messer.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor William King officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
