Herbert “Herbie” Karl, age 55, resident of New Washington, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2005. He was born on December 25, 1949 in New Washington, Ohio and had been a resident of New Washington all of his life. Mr. Karl was an owner/operator truck driver and was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, the outdoors and time joking with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Becky (Shay) Karl; two daughters and sons-in-law, April and Brett Bishop of Bucyrus; Shelli and Jeff Knapp of Bucyrus; one son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Anna Smith of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Heather, Brandon and Jasmine Knapp and Carter and Grant Bishop; his mother, Mary Karl of New Washington; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Marge Karl of Shelby, William Karl of Lima, Allen and Judy Karl of Tiro, and Norbert Karl of New Washington; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Karl and a brother, Jerry Karl.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington with Father Frederick Schill officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in New Washington.
