Holbert E. Smith, age 75, of St. Rte. 598, Willard, passed away Wed., July 20, 2005 at the MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, following a short illness. He was born May 1, 1930 in Greenwich Center, OH and has lived all of his life in Willard, where he was a retired car inspector for the CSX Rairoad for 44 years. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard. He was an Army Veteran from 1948 to 1951.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen R. (Berger) Smith, whom he married Aug. 19, 1952; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mickela A. Davis of Galion and Deborah J. & Steve Hoyda of Hilliard; son, Thomas Smith of Wauseon; 7 grandchildren and a great grandson; sister, Petie Davis of Willard.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Walter E. & Loreta (Starkey) Smith and a sister, Wilma Wertz.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. There will be a Funeral Mass, Monday at 11:00 A.M., at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard, with Fr. Stanley S. Szybka officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 226 St. Rte. 61 East, Norwalk, OH 44857.
