James M. Hiler, age 65, of Tiro, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the O.S.U. Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born May 23, 1948 in Tiro, Ohio to the late Clyde J. and Anna I. (Karl) Hiler. He was a life long farmer who enjoyed farming, working outdoors, hunting, restoring tractors and cars and loved animals. He served in the Army during Vietnam and was a member of the 71st Assualt Helecopter Company where he was a Door Gunner. He was a member of the Firebird Association.
He is survived by his wife Debbie (Diamond) Hiler, whom he married July 30, 1983; 7 brothers and sisters, Karl Hiler of New Washington, Lucy (Tom) Hay of Willard, Faye (John) Rothhaar of New Haven, Janet (Mark) Douglas of Silver Lake, IN, Robert (Denise) Hiler of New Washington, Louis Hiler of New Washington and Jerry Hiler of Tiro; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Scott and Amanda Estridge, and their children, Austin and Myli of Tiro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Anna (Karl) Hiler and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hiler.
There will be a funeral mass with military rites, Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society. Debbie, Butch and I have lasting memories of Jim’s visits to Florida and our visits to Ohio. Jim’s phone calls while Butch was recovering from his stroke were just what the ” doctor ordered”! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will cherish all the memories.

I was so sorry to hear about Jim. Just hearing his name brought back many happy memories of my youth. I can still see that smile that only Jim had. Jim was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I have such great memories of playing ball and just goofing around together. He had a great sense of humor and a very kind heart.
