John I. Kostoff Jr., age 78, of Portage Path, Willard, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1925 in Willard, where he lived all of his life. He was a member of the Willard American Legion, Post 514, the Willard Elks #1370, the United Transportation Union, Local 586, and a life member of the Shelby VFW, Post 291. He retired in 1987 as a conductor for the CSX Railroad in Willard. He was a U.S. Navy veteran in WW II.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Ciolan) Kostoff, who he married March 8, 1947; daughter, Kristine Rice of Willard; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, John & Marsha Kostoff of Willlard and Richard Kostoff of Columbus; 2 granddaughters, Tina and Lori Rice; sister, Helen Rinker of Willard; a niece and nephews.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, John & Fannie (Stoyanoff) Kostoff and 2 brothers, Lazar and Chester Kostoff.
Visitation will be Monday from 4-5 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, where there will be a Memorial Service, Monday at 5:00 P.M., with military rites. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Aids Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
