Laura Oney, age 85, resident of Rome, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Ohio Health MedCentral in Shelby. She was born on July 5, 1931 in Morgan County, Kentucky to the late Wilburn and Letha (Spencer) Blankenship. Laura had worked as a press operator for Taylor Metal Products. She enjoyed attending different churches and listening to Christian music. Laura also enjoyed working outside, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Oney and her friend; a sister, Gayola Gillum; her ex-husband and friend, Mitford Oney; a sister in law, Mattie Blankenship; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kelly, Palmer, Orville, Troy Blankenship; four sisters, Elizabeth Blankenship, Gladys Frisby, Mae Frisby, and Zona Oney.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with her nephew, David Gillum officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
