Lowell Thornsberry, age 60, of Shelby, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby,Ohio after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 12, 1951 at Lackey, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Queenie Thornsberry. He was graduate of Knott County High School and had been a Shelby resident since 1973. Mr. Thornsberry was retired from Copperweld in Shelby and a member of the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judy F. (Slone) Thornsberry, of 40 years; one daughter Angela (Vernon) Blanton of Shelby; 2 granddaughters, Lacy Marie Blanton and Jerica Blanton of Mansfield, Ohio; 6 sisters, Willa Thornsberry of Kite, KY, Melissa (Walter) Sexton of Topmost, KY, Judy Slone of Wayland, KY, Delores Thornsberry of David, KY, Lora (Bobby) Click of Cornith, KY and Peggy (Nelson) Craft of Hindman, KY; 4 brothers, Dowell (Jeannie) Thornsberry, Effort (Jackie) Thornsberry. Deffort (Patsy) Thornsberry and James (Robin) Thornsberry, all of Kite, KY; he also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends, and his church family.
He is preceded in death by his baby daughter, Loretta Faye, his mother and father, Arthur and Queenie Thornsberry and a brother, Jerry Thornsberry.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church in Plymouth, Ohio and also on Thursday thru the day. Church services will be held both evenings at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 with Deffort Thornsberry and Buddy Carty officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Little Rebecca Church. Very sorry for your loss and that we were unable to come for the funeral. Hazel and I each had our health problems to deal with and just were’nt able to attend. May God bless and comfort the family is our prayer.
