Paul V. Carpenter, age 77, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 peacefully at his home after battling numerous health issues. He was born on February 26, 1940 in Willard, Ohio to the late Rolla and Martha (Schultz) Carpenter. Paul was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and had retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons after 33 years of service. He was a girls’ softball coach and a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and OSU Buckeyes. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild and was proud to call Willard his home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice (Haspeslagh) Carpenter, whom he married on October 14, 1967; one son, Chris Carpenter; four daughters, Pam (Bill) Nelson, Laura (Jeff) Schultz, Debra Carpenter and Nancy Carpenter; 9 grandchildren, Kennedy, Kyrra, and Roger Schultz; Elijah, Matthew, Lauren and Baraka Bavu; Gavin and Erin Williams; one great grandchild, Kingston Robles; and a brother James Carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Johnston, Leona Zeigler and brothers, Raymond, Eugene, Robert, Gerald, Everettt and Phillip Carpenter.

Visitation will be on from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard with Fr. George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. Pam….I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I have many memories of him stopping by my office when he would go to Mercy for Cardiac Rehab. Many stories at my kitchen table too growing up hearing about how him and my dad would harrass each other at RRD. My thoughts are with you and your family. RIP Paul.
