Richard D. Jones, age 88, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Bucyrus, Ohio. He was born on April 10, 1928 to the late Dell and Leah (Hyler) Jones. He was enlisted in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. Richard had worked as a warehouseman for Shelby Air Force Depot and had later retired from the Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus in 1992. He enjoyed his grandchildren and motorcycling.
Richard is survived by his wife, Donna (Ross) Jones, whom he married on February 27, 1954; a daughter, Nancy (Tim) Meister of Bucyrus; a son, Mark (Shirley) Jones of Chatfield; three grandchildren, Stacy Jones, Ross Jones, and Krystal (Ian) Mason; two great grandchildren, Xavier Foster and Cecelia Mason; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kaple and Margaret Sand; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Donald Kaple and John Sand.
Visitation will be held at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Chatfield, Ohio with Reverend Tom Pairan officiating. Burial will follow in the Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery in Chatfield. Memorial contributions can be made to the New Washington EMT/Ambulance Service Fund or The Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery.
