Robert Wayne Kessler, age 85, resident of Plymouth, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. He was born on October 30, 1922 to the late Charles and Ida (Leonhart) Kessler and had been a resident of Plymouth most of his life. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Plymouth, OH. He retired from General Motors in Mansfield, OH in 1985 after 22 years. He was a life member of the Plymouth American Legion #447. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W. II., serving on the USS Millicoma AO-73.
He is survived by one son, Arden (Penny) Kessler of Shelby; one daughter, Janaan (Donald) Sorgen of Kenton, Ohio; two granddaughters, Abbie (Wallace) Tackett of Shelby and Sarah Kessler of Mansfield.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Steele) Kessler; his parents, Charles and Ida (Leonhart) Kessler; 5 brothers, Cloyd, Ray, Arthur, Marvin and Merton Kessler; and 3 sisters, Lucille Kessler, Inez Hass and Viola Frank
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, OH. The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at the First Lutheran Church in Plymouth, with Rev. Leonard Shatkus officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, OH. Memorial expressions may be made to First Lutheran Church (organ fund) in Plymouth.
