Roland C. Anthony (Ron) , age 96, resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2007 in Ruxton Health of Alexandria in Alexandria, Virginia. He was born on Feb. 25, 1911 in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Jesse and Ruth (James) Anthony, and moved to Willard in 1920. During the Great Depression, Mr. Anthony dropped out of school to help support his family; but, determined to complete his education returned and graduated from Willard High School in 1932 at the age of 21. He used that same determination to become a successful businessman as owner of Ron’s Body Shop, Willard Frame and Alignment Service, and Willard Shell Service. Mr. Anthony retired in 1976 from MidWest Industries. He was a Mason, lifetime member and former Exalted Ruler of the Willard B.P.O.E., and former member of the Willard Eagles Club.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roland (Rollo) and Roxie Anthony of Alexandria, VA; sister, Martha King of Wilmington, NC; 6 grandchildren, Dale Jr., Jeffrey, Paula, Roland III, Merrina and Jason; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Goldie G. Anthony on April 30, 1999; his daughter, Kaye E. Anderson April 16, 2003; his parents; and his brother, Glen Anthony.
A graveside service will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Willard, Ohio at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 with Rev. Kathryn Rhoads officiating.
