William “Bill” Kanney, age 77, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at his home. He was born April 6, 1928 in New Washington, OH, where he lived all of his life. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loved farming and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Rietschlin) Kanney, whom he married Sept. 15, 1951; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Carolyn Kanney of Pikeville, KY; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Janice & John Blue of Marion, Patti & Kevin Steffenhagen of Willard, Nancy & Kevin Hall of Fostoria and Nellie & Frank Reith of Shelby; 10 grandchildren, Angela, Melody, Crystal and Rachel Kanney, Jennifer and Julia Blue, Nikki and Brett Steffenhagen, Danielle and Arica Reith.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, William F. and Louisa (Alt) Kanney; stillborn infant, Karl Joseph Kanney; 4 brothers, Charles, Walter, John and Albert Kanney; 2 sisters, Helen Bishop and Mary Rowland.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Sunday, October 23, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 10:30 AM with Father Frederick Schill officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.
